How to Stick to Your New Years' Weight Loss Resolutions

|

2016 is here! Did you make a resolution to become a happier, healthier you? Losing weight is one of the goals many of us hope to achieve in the new year. Many people lose sight of their weight loss goals quickly. Why is that? We set the bar high at the beginning of the year, but many of us become disappointed when we fall short. Soza Weight Loss Harvey can help you make sure that your goals are also within reach.

What Steps Can I Take?

Studies have shown that people who consciously make resolutions are 10 times more likely to stick to them than those who do not. At the same time, though, a large number of those individual start out strong and begin to fade out as the year continues. Our first suggestion is to break down your goal to make it more manageable on a weekly or even a day-by-day basis.

Here are some of our additional tips that may be helpful to you:

1. Aim low--keep your weight loss goals low.

Does this seem counter-intuitive? Consider this: Let’s say that you want to lose 50 pounds this year. Break it down week by week and say something along these lines: “I will lose one to two pounds this week and lose 20 pounds by the spring, another 20 by the fall, and the last 10 in winter.” Circle a date on the calendar of an event that is drawing near—a wedding, a beach outing, a vacation to the Caribbean—something you are looking forward to. Keep that date in your focus.

2. Find a social support group.

Surround yourself with others who are also on a weight loss journey. Studies have shown that those who have a support group tend to maintain their weight loss and continue hitting their goals. Not only do you have support, but also motivation and accountability.

3. Give yourself praise!

Take pride in every achievement. Remember that every victory only means that you are that much closer to your overall goal. Give thanks for every workout or each time you say no to a temptation. Reward yourself. Also, don’t be too hard on yourself if you have a slip-up. Remember always to forgive yourself and make it a mission to recommit to your weight loss path.
